Factions are just one of the many choices you have in Bethesda Game Studios latest title, Starfield. You can choose to join them and help them out with their goals, or even be their rivals by joining a different faction.
There are nine different factions to choose from in-game, from the Freestar Collective to the United Colonies. One of those factions is the Xenofresh Corporation, and it’s a bit different from the other joinable factions.

What is the Xenofresh Corporation in Starfield?
The Xenofresh Corporation is one of the megacorporation factions that is found in Neon. The company is technically a faction, but because it’s not a group of like-minded people or government, but rather a business, profit is typically their goal, and they don’t have an official military.
Xenofresh Corporation actually founded the city of Neon, which originally started out as a fishing port. However, the fish caught there were discovered to have psychotropic properties, and they used them to manufacture the illegal drug known as Aurora. It’s responsible for turning the once-fishing platform into a pleasure city. The city of Neon is the only spot in the star systems where the drug is legal, leading many people visiting to try it. However, unlike the Freestar Collective with Akila City, they aren’t the governmental leaders of the city.
Ryujin Industries, the other company in town, is beginning to take control of the city now, which Xenofresh is not happy about. Due to their questionable practices, including:
- Participation in the illegal drug trade
- Possible ties to the space pirates faction, Crimson Fleet
Players can assume the Xenofresh Corporation’s moral compass doesn’t point due north.
It’s unknown how long the Xenofresh Corporation has been around, so we don’t know if they are an older faction or if they are relatively new compared to older ones like Constellation. However, they certainly have a large presence on Neon, and that can’t be ignored.
Where is the Xenofresh Corporation in Starfield?
Unlike the United Colonies in New Atlantis or Constellation faction, Xenofresh doesn’t have a capital city but rather just a company headquarters, which is found in the city of Neon. Several Starfield factions operate in multiple areas in the Settled Systems, and it’s possible the Xenofresh Corporation can also be found in other places in the Volii system, where Neon is located.
Once you’ve completed enough missions to gain the corporation’s trust, you should be welcomed into the faction.
There are plenty of quests on the various planets you’ll find in your exploration of space during Starfield, so expect to run into other factions like House Va’ruun and the Ecliptic Mercenaries on your journey.
