Given the supernatural abilities of many of Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ heroes, as well as clues in the latest gameplay trailer, indicate it’s possible that Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, could be coming to the game. The Scarlet Witch isn’t part of the Midnight Sons comics, which serves as the inspiration for Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
She does share a connection with Chthon, God of Chaos, who marked her as a baby and infused her with chaos magic. Later, after Wanda joins the Avengers, Chthon possesses her in an attempt to be reborn on earth, hoping to wield his dark power over its inhabitants.

On Aug. 31, IGN revealed a new gameplay trailer and developer interview that confirmed there would be 12 playable superheroes for Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ launch. Though the full roster has yet to be revealed, dialogue Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ hints at the presence of both the Scarlet Witch and Agatha Harkness. The trailer shows the player character, called the Hunter, asking about an event involving Wanda that, from context, did not end well for the Scarlet Witch. The Hunter is met with a response that there was no other choice, Wanda had no control over her powers, and Agatha wasn’t there to help. This ominous reference, coupled with Wanda’s connection to Chthon in the comics, shows Scarlet Witch could manifest in Marvel’s Midnight Suns in one of two capacities.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ gameplay trailer stated that Lilith is attempting to resurrect Chthon, her master, to bring about the end of the world. If she’s successful, it’s possible Marvel’s Midnight Suns will bring in Scarlet Witch as a surprise villain, her mortal body possessed by Chthon. This would add an interesting emotional twist as well, as the Midnight Suns team would have to fight against one of their own. It could also be a refreshing experience to fight against the Scarlet Witch rather than with her, and her powers would be just as formidable as Lilith or Chthon.
The most obvious integration for Scarlet Witch in Marvel’s Midnight Suns is as one of the game’s heroes. Her powers would be dynamic additions to the title’s tactical gameplay, her persona a unique member of the Abbey for players to interact with. Additionally, her connection with Chthon and powerful chaos magic could prove useful to the Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ team tactics in stopping Lilith and her horde. However, given the dialogue shown in the gameplay trailer, it’s likely the Scarlet Witch wouldn’t be introduced until later in the narrative.
