Warframe: How To Trade For Items And Platinum

Quick Links

Unlike most free-to-play games, Warframe allows players to earn its premium currency by trading with other players. Those who want to obtain Platinum without spending a dime can do so by trading items with other players. You can also use the trading system to purchase items you want, including Prime items, Relics, Mods, and even Liches.

If you want to get far in your Warframe journey without needing to purchase Platinum, you'll need to get familiar with trading. Fortunately, the process is mostly straightforward. We'll go over how to trade, all prerequisites tied to trading, what items you can trade with other players, and answer some frequently asked questions surrounding Warframe's trading system.

How To Trade In Warframe

There are two ways you can trade items in Warframe:

  1. Use a Trade Kiosk in a Clan Dojo.
  2. Set up shop at Maroo's Bazaar.

Both methods allow you to trade the same items between players. Using either method also imposes the same restrictions.

Trading Restrictions

We'll cover specific items you can and can't trade in a second. Before we do that, we need to first talk about two important restrictions tied to trading:

  1. You cannot trade unless two-factor authentication is enabled on your account.
  2. Your number of daily trades is determined by your Mastery Rank.

    1. You must be at least MR2 to unlock trading.

To enable 2FA, log onto your Warframe account at warframe.com and enable two-factor authentication under "User Information."

Trades are limited to your Mastery Rank. The number of trades you can make each day is equal to your MR. If you're MR15, you can trade 15 times a day.

Trading With Clan Kiosks

Here's how you'd trade with someone via a Clan Trading Kiosk:

  1. Enter your Clan Dojo.
  2. Invite the player you wish to trade with.
  3. Once they're in your Dojo, interact with the Kiosk.
  4. In the trade menu, select the items you wish to trade.
  5. Select "Ready to Trade" under your items.
  6. When both parties are ready, select "Accept Trade" to finish.

Trading In Maroo's Bazaar

If you aren't part of a clan, you can still trade with other players in Maroo's Bazaar.

  1. Enter Maroo's Bazaar, located on Mars.
  2. Open your gear menu.
  3. Select "Open Shop."
  4. Wait or invite someone to trade with.
  5. In the trade menu, select the items you wish to trade.
  6. Select "Ready to Trade" under your items.
  7. When both parties are ready, select "Accept Trade" to finish.

Marketing Your Items With Trade Chat

Marketing the items you're selling is key to selling items. You can advertise items you're selling or interested in buying in Warframe's trade chat. It's the last tab in your Orbiter or Dojo's chat menu. If you don't see the tab, you can enable it under the "Chat" section of the options menu. You can only post one message in trade chat every two minutes.

Most players opt to use third-party websites to trade their items. We'll cover these resources at the end of the guide.

Items You Can Trade

Surprisingly, you can trade most items in Warframe. Most of the game's important items—Platinum, Prime parts, Relics, Arcanes, Mods, and Companion Imprints—can be traded between players. When you start discussing weapons and resources, things get much muddier.

This is the only website we'll be recommending for this guide. Be sure you're browsing items that are on your platform.

Trading FAQ

Some aspects of trading can be quite confusing if you're a new or a returning player. Let's go over some frequently asked questions surrounding Warframe's trading system.

Are There Any Prerequisites To Trading?

Yes. You must be Mastery Rank 2 to trade with other players. Two-factor authentication must also be enabled on your account.

What's A Clan Trade Tax?

Trades that occur in a Clan Dojo can apply a Credit Tax that goes towards the Clan, the value being up to the discretion of the Clan in question. The game sets a Clan's Trade Tax to 5% by default, although you can alter this from 0-100%. This does not remove the Credit Tax implicit with trading items.

Why Do Trades Require Credits?

Every item in Warframe that you trade will deduct a varying amount of Credits from the recipient's account. The Credit value of an item is usually dictated by its rarity.

  • Platinum (Currency Type): 500 Credits per unit
  • Common: 2,000 Credits
  • Uncommon: 4,000 Credits
  • Rare: 8,000 Credits
  • Legendary/Primed: 1,000,000 Credits

Just to be safe, be sure you have at least 40,000 Credits handy before making any trade. If you're planning to purchase a Primed Mod, Legendary Core, or Legendary Arcane, make sure you have 1,000,000 Credits to spare.

What Should I Sell As A Newer Player?

Corrupted Mods and Syndicate Items are solid items to sell if you're newer. Corrupted Mods are easy to farm, and Syndicate Reputation is acquired passively. Once you have enough Syndicate rep, purchase an Augment Mod or Syndicate weapon. Good Corrupted Mods and most Syndicate items can be sold for around 10-20 Platinum.

Can I Trade Without A Clan?

Yes. Head to Maroo's Bazaar, located on Mars. Hold the Gear button, then select "Open Shop." Anyone interested in purchasing your items can interact with your character. If you're trading via trade chat or a third-party website, invite them to the Bazaar and state where you're located.
