WarioWare: Get It Together Trailer Reveals Characters and Other Features

Nintendo Switch owners have a lot to look forward to over the coming months. October alone will see Metroid Dread and Mario Party Superstars release, with the Advance Wars and Pokémon Diamond & Pearl remakes to follow. But before all of that, the newest entry in the WarioWare series will launch in only a couple of weeks and Nintendo has released a short but jam-packed trailer to inform long-time fans and newcomers about what to expect from it.

The trailer for WarioWare: Get It Together comes not long after a demo released on the Switch’s eShop, but that only featured a small offering of the full package. The trailer, amusingly narrated by Wario himself, begins with a quick summation of the game’s premise. Wario and his friends have created a new video game, only for it to glitch out and suck everybody inside of it. In order to escape, Wario and the others must complete the microgames within.

Wario then provides an explanation for what microgames are. For anyone unfamiliar with the series, WarioWare tasks players with completing a series of incredibly short games that can be done in only a few seconds using very simple controls. Previous games would take advantage of the console’s unique features (WarioWare: Smooth Moves on the Nintendo Wii, for example, contained microgames that would require different motion controls using the Wii Remote), but Get It Together’s microgames only use the control stick and one button, meaning it can be played whether the Nintendo Switch is docked or in handheld mode.

Get It Together’s main hook is that there are multiple playable WarioWare characters with their own distinct abilities to tackle each microgame with. So, Wario can fly through the air and charge with his jetpack, Mona throws a boomerang, Ashely fires magic spells, and so on. The trailer appears to confirm the full roster as well, although characters will need to be unlocked in story mode first.

The trailer caps things off with a quick glimpse at some of the side content that can be enjoyed after completing the main story. Aside from boasting over 200 microgames, which include crossovers with other Nintendo games, there appears to be a wide range of competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes, as well as online functionality. Players can compete against each other to earn high scores in a ranking mode and the game will even offer different weekly challenges. It’s not clear if taking part in these challenges yields any unique rewards or not.

WarioWare: Get It Together releases for Nintendo Switch on September 10th.
