Why is confetti falling in Pokémon Go?

Updates to Pokémon Go happen reasonably frequently. These updates are big and small, many of them being minor, typically focused on making the experience easier for trainers to manage their Pokémon. The formula for Pokémon Go hasn’t really changed since it was first released in 2016. However, more visual changes cause trainers to wonder what’s happening and if they should be doing something. Notable change players may have picked up on because confetti is now falling from the sky all over the world. Here’s what you need to know about why confetti is falling in Pokémon Go.

Why is there confetti in Pokémon Go?

If you ever see confetti falling in Pokémon Go, chances are there’s a huge event happening at that moment. You typically see it for significant events, such as the Pokémon Go Fest yearly or larger occasions. We’ll probably see it happening again alongside the end-of-the-year celebrations.

The most recent reason is because of players defeating those participating in the Pokémon Go Fest: Finale event. It’s a limited-time event, happening from 10 AM to 6 PM in your local time zone. There will be multiple Pokémon appearing throughout the event, and those who purchased a ticket have an increased chance to encounter Ultra Beasts through Special Research happening at this time. Those who do not have a ticket still have plenty of reasons to participate as these Pokémon will appear in five-star raids, along with the many Pokémon spawning for each habitat rotation.

Confetti appears in Pokémon Go every so often, so expect additional reasons and events to see it dropping from the sky.
