Xbox Reveals Games With Gold For September

Xbox has revealed which four games will be available for free through Games With Gold this September.

If you had told someone 25 years ago that in the future, you would be able to occupy all of your time playing games without having to pay for them, they'd have never believed you. That's possible nowadays, though. Between free-to-play titles and subscription services, you could happily play away to your heart's content without paying for anything more than the price of those subscription services ever again.

Speaking of which, Xbox has now revealed which four games will be available for free to anyone and everyone with an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. As is typically the case, next month's Games With Gold will include two regular games, as well as two more from Xbox's back catalog via the Series X|S and Xbox One's backwards compatibility. All four games, as well as when they will be available to download, can be found below.

  • Warhammer: Chaosbane (September 1 – September 30)
  • Malaka (September 16 – October 15)
  • Zone Of The Enders HD Collection (Xbox 360, September 1- September 15)
  • Samurai Showdown 2 (Xbox 360, September 16 – September 30)

As is often the case with additions to Games With Gold, the line-up tries to include something for everyone. If you bag all four then you'll be saving yourself almost $100, and there's 4000 in Gamerscore to be earned through playing all of them in their entireties.

The announcement of the next batch of Games With Gold also signifies the beginning of the end for the four games currently available. You've already missed your chance to claim Lost Planet 3 for free, but Darksiders 3 and Garou: Mark of the Wolves August will remain available to download and install until August 31. Yooka-Laylee will remain on Games With Gold until September 15.

This week has been a big one for Xbox. It staged its own Gamescom show on Tuesday night and then made a number of big announcements during Wednesday's Open Night Live. They included the reveal of a limited edition Halo-themed Series X which has already been appearing on resale sites for massively inflated prices.
