Aliens: Fireteam Elite will offer long-term seasonal support for all players at no extra cost. Developer Cold Iron Studios has announced that new content will come in the form of Seasons, which will give you access to “big gameplay-centered updates.”
Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a cooperative survival shooter, which is easiest to describe as a Left 4 Dead or Back 4 Blood lookalike with Xenomorphs instead of zombies. The project tries to straddle both worlds, creating an experience aimed at both solo players and co-op lovers. As such, you can beat the game offline on your own (with a squad of AI teammates), or you can unite efforts with your friends online.
Cold Iron creative director Matt Highison shared his thoughts on what he sees as Fireteam Elite’s excellent value, highlighting some of its strengths on Twitter. The game has a moderate price tag of $40, which includes free next-gen upgrades targeting up to 4K resolution and 60 fps. The game won’t include any pay-to-win mechanics, microtransactions, or loot boxes.

The most interesting bit here is that seasonal updates will follow after the initial launch and will be completely free for everyone who owns the base game. Instead of paid battle passes, Cold Iron chose a different path and will give all players “the cool new stuff,” which is “big gameplay-centered updates” as clarified by Highison.
We have no information about what exactly Aliens: Fireteam Elite's future seasons will entail, but judging by the creative director’s tease, they should be a considerable addition. The project will come with four campaigns and a challenge card system to add new twists every time you replay them. Previously the devs noted “each mission features alternate paths, random objectives, or varied enemy encounters,” so the team can change these parameters during seasons for even more mission diversity.
Additionally, there will be a total of five different classes, which you can customize both in terms of appearance and combat abilities. As for paid DLC, fans can purchase the Endeavor Pass, which will include new cosmetic upgrades for your characters. These packs are available as part of the Deluxe Edition, or you can buy them individually.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite is coming less than in a week — you’ll be able to blast Xenomorphs in the face on August 24.
