Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster: How To Get The Hidden Game Achievement

Fun, secret minigames are something of a minor tradition when it comes to Final Fantasy. You have the concentration game in Final Fantasy 2 that you can play whilst on the snow craft, and a very secret blackjack game in Final Fantasy 9 that can only be played at the very end of the credits.

It all started, however, in the very first Final Fantasy with a 15 puzzle. You may have seen these before — you start with a 4×4 grid filled with 15 numbers and you have to shuffle them around until they are in order. It can be a bit frustrating to play but also a nice time-waster. This game has made it through every port and remaster of Final Fantasy, and in the Pixel Remaster, playing it gets you an achievement.

How To Play The 15 Puzzle

The clue to playing this game actually comes from Matoya's brooms. They hint at the fact that they speak backward and then provide you with a button combination. The key to opening the 15 Puzzle however is being on the ship that you get from Bikke.

Here's how to open the game:

  • On PC: Hold down the confirm button (defaults to Enter) and continuously tap the back button (defaults to Backspace). This also works on a gamepad.
  • On mobile: Hold one finger on the ship and tap the screen repeatedly with another finger.

    • NOTE: Some phones may not be able to compute this input.

How To Solve The 15 Puzzle

Simply opening the 15 Puzzle and starting a round is enough to get the Hidden Game achievement.

For those who played the original, however, you may be surprised to know that this minigame no longer has any prizes to win. Older versions of the game let you get Gil and consumable items from this game, but the Pixel Remaster does away with that aspect entirely.

The best way to complete a 15 Puzzle is to work from the top to the bottom. Once you have the first row complete, you no longer have to worry about it and those numbers should never move again. This gives you a smaller board to work with and should make the rest of the game easier to complete.
