Marvel’s Avengers Reveals MCU Thor Outfit Based On His Endgame Appearance

Marvel's Avengers has had a bit of a tumultuous relationship with post-launch content, but things appear to be on the up and up. The game's Black Panther content update is just on the horizon, bring in the iconic hero to the game voiced by God of War'sChristopher Judge. Plus, Marvel's Avengers is adding MCU-inspired skins, with Thor's iconic Endgame look now fully revealed to the world.

Over on Twitter, the official Marvel's Avengers account shared a look at Thor as he appears in Endgame, donning the iconic suit that the hero wears as he faces off against Thanos. It's a good look for the character, as the new outfit has a contemporary feel to it that some of the other skins in the game lack, which is in line with what some fans have been asking for.

It isn't a one-to-one recreation of Thor from Endgame, however. The character's face model hasn't been updated to resemble Chris Hemsworth, who portrays Thor in the films. Rather, his face shares a similar structure to the version of Thor found in the base Marvel's Avengers, just with shorter hair and a different style of beard. It's not necessarily a bad look for the character, though it isn't quite as MCU-inspired of a face as some fans might be expecting.

According to the announcement, Marvel's Avengers players can pick the skin up in the Marketplace starting tomorrow, July 29. Of course, fans are going to have to buy the skins, just like many of the other premium appearances featured in the game. Fans have called for a better suite of skins to be included in the game through earnable methods, rather than having to shell out for them, though it's not clear if there will be expanded options for that further down the line.

So far, the response to the skin's appearance has been mostly positive. One of the only consistent criticisms in the replies regards Mjolnir, Thor's iconic hammer. Some fans have expressed interest in Stormbreaker, the axe Thor uses in Endgame, to make an appearance in the game alongside the MCU skin. That's not the case right now, but it could change in the future.

The steady churn out of new content is promising for Marvel's Avenger's future. While it's been sharply criticized for its post-launch content structure and certain gameplay elements, other live service titles have proven that it's possible for a turnaround, and new content is the right track.

Marvel's Avengers is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
