Despite being ten years old at this point, it seems the gaming world is far from done with all the creative endeavors that can be actualized in Minecraft. Fans are well versed in making all sorts of things, from new texture packs, to the modder who turned the blocky world into an almost photo realistic vista. There is seemingly no end to people's imagination, and now it looks as though someone has managed to combine the world of Minecraft with that of another beloved franchise.
Posting a series of images to the Minecraft subreddit recently, user Dinaeh has showcased a work in progress which takes Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and recreates it piece by piece in the open world sandbox game. The user has been posting progress for a few days, and in this iteration, they say that they've now started to add structures from the game into the map.

The Reddit user did say that they haven't created everything from scratch. They had some help in constructing the terrain by using heightmap, but other than that, they've done everything else themselves. Much like the Minecraft map which is based on Attack on Titan, as well as many others built by the community, Dinaeh's efforts are equally impressive, and the post suggests that there is more work to come before it's complete.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Breath of the Wild has been reimagined in the blocky universe. Back in December 2020, another user showed off their creativity by making the Zelda map of Hyrule. While still an impressive feat by any standard, the difference between this and the newer one that's been posted to Reddit, is the former doesn't have any of the game's buildings. That's not to detract from the skills that went into creating it, but Dinaeh has arguably gone above and beyond now that they've started introducing structures into their version.
The sheer scale of Minecraft is simply staggering, and people who take on such lofty projects show that there is still so much the game has to offer. Given that Mojang's open world title was the most-watched YouTube game of 2020, the popularity of this franchise doesn't seem to be waning any time soon. There are millions of players out there, many with enormous talent and the sheer tenacity to keep building and showing their love and dedication on this low resolution blank canvas that is Minecraft.
Minecraft is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
