New Pokemon Snap: Every Pokemon In Barren Badlands (Night) & Where To Find Them

The Barren Badlands (Night) course will likely be one of the last that players tackle in New Pokemon Snap and will be unlocked once players have reached research level 2 in the daytime version of the course. It's home to 17 different types of Pokemon, two of which can't be found anywhere else in the game. As such, anybody hoping to fill out their Photodex is going to need to pay the course a visit at some point.

As well as 17 Pokemon, there are also six new photo requests for players to take on. A few of these can be fulfilled at research level 1, but the rest can only be attempted after players have reached research level 2 for the course. Given that they'll need to do this anyway in order to find the course's two exclusive Pokemon though, this shouldn't be a big deal for most players.

  • Tyranitar – A Tyranitar comes out of a cave directly behind the course's starting point at research level 1. Once players reach research level 2, there'll be a second Tyranitar sleeping just past the first Crystabloom. If players wake it up from a spot where it can't see them, they can get it to attack the nearby Crustle or make it trigger a sandstorm that leads to an epic battle with Zeraora. The sandstorm will also change the route of the NEO-ONE slightly, although this doesn't provide any real benefit to players.
  • Lycanroc – A midday form Lycanroc appears near the beginning of the course. More can be found towards the end of the section with the poisonous gas.
  • Shinx -Shinx can be found with Torchic, Tepic, and Rockruff at the beginning of the course. At research level 1 only, the group will appear in the Onix holes near the end of the course, and hitting them all with Illumina Orbs will lead to them celebrating together just before the exit.
  • Tepig – As with Shinx, Tepig can be found at the start and end of the course.
  • Torchic – Torchic shows up near the water at the beginning of the course and in the Onix holes at the end of it.
  • Rockruff – Like its three friends, players can find Rockruff at the beginning and end of the course.
  • Vivillon – There are three different types of Vivillon in the opening area. At research level 2, if players hit the three that are flying with Illumina Orbs and also photograph five Diglett, they'll be able to get a photo with eight different types of Vivillon in the valley on the right shortly after the opening section.
  • Diglett – There are Diglett under the ground in the first two sections of the course. Hitting them with an Illumina Orb will cause them to pop up though, allowing players to take pictures. At research level 2, there are some near the giant craters at the end of the poisonous gas section too and all of the Onix holes will also be filled with Diglett.
  • Mandibuzz – Players can find a Mandibuzz over on the right side of the opening section. There's another one on a tree branch just before the Onix holes, although this is replaced by another Pokemon at research level 2.
  • Crustle – There are a couple of Crustle in the opening section. One is to the left of the geyser while the other is to the right. Players can provoke Tyranitar into attacking the one on the right, allowing players to get an easy four star photo and complete one of the course's many photo requests.
  • Scolipede – Scolipede can be found sleeping in the section immediately before the poisonous gas area and then again near the giant craters at the end of it.
  • Swalot – Just like the daytime version of the course, there are quite a few Swalot in the area with the poison gas. If players illuminate the Crystabloom to their left, several more will pop out of the ground.
  • Kangaskhan – There's a sleeping Kangaskhan just before players reach the Onix holes. At research level 2, there are two of them.
  • Sandshrew – Sandshrew starts showing up at research level 2 and can be found on the left-hand side of the starting area. There's another in the short section between the opening area and the one with the poisonous gas.
  • Zeraora – Zeraora can be found sleeping to the left of the starting area once players reach research level 2. If they hit it with a Fluffruit, it will wake up and run along an archway onto a cliff high above. Provoking Tyranatar into starting a sandstorm will make it come down and fight, allowing players to get one to four star photos of it relatively easily. The hard part is actually waking it, as like trying to hit the Primarina with an Illumina Orb in the Beach (Night) course, it's a fairly difficult shot. Thankfully, it's right at the start of the course, allowing players to quickly restart and try again if they mess it up.
  • Magikarp – As players approach the water near the beginning of the course, a bunch of Magikarp will jump out and start thrashing around.
  • Gliscor – There are several Gliscor sleeping upside down in the area immediately before the one with the gas. Players can wake them by hitting them with Fluffruit, which will cause them to fly around. There's one more hanging off a tree branch just before the Onix holes too; the same spot where the Mandibuzz is perched when visiting the course at research level 1.
