The Mightywide River is the second of three new courses that were added to New Pokemon Snap as part of its 2.0 update. The daytime variant of the course features 19 different types of Pokemon, making it one of the largest and most densely populated courses in the game. What's more, six of these Pokemon are brand new additions to New Pokemon Snap, making the River (Day) course an incredibly exciting one for series fans.

While most of the Pokemon in the course are water-types, which is perhaps to be expected given its river theme, there are a couple of additions that will likely surprise some. Unfortunately, players will need to reach research level 3 before they can see all of the Pokemon that call the river their home, although, for those who know what they're doing, this shouldn't take all that long.
- Magikarp – Unsurprisingly, perhaps, Magikarp shows up constantly throughout the course and is one of the first Pokemon that players will encounter.
- Metapod – There are some Metapod to the players left as soon as they enter the course. Another can be found hanging from a branch a little later on.
- Beautifly – Some Beautifly appear at both the start and the end of the course and are fairly difficult to miss due to their flight path.
- Sobble – If players look to their right near the start of the course, they'll see a Sobble running through the bushes. The same Sobble can then be seen several times after this running through the course to the player's left.
- Grookey – Grookey shows up in all the same locations as Sobble and so is difficult to miss.
- Aipom – Players will see a group of Aipom running along some clifftops near the start of the course and they'll later show up to tease Psyduck before the first set of rapids. At research level 3, there'll also be a bunch of Aipom near the start of the course, and interacting with them will lead to more showing up later on.
- Feraligatr – Feraligatr pops out of the water directly in front of players as players travel around the first bend in the course. It then shows up again later on in the water near the course's exit.
- Psyduck – Psyduck can be seen sobbing to the player's left just before the first set of rapids and then shows up periodically throughout the rest of the course. At research level 3, it will come right up to the NEO-ONE near the exit.
- Vivillon – There's a jungle pattern Vivillon on a wall to the player's right as they drop down the first set of rapids . If they illuminate the nearby Crystabloom, the Vivillon will show up again at the end of the course. At research level 3, a river pattern Vivillon will also appear near the course's exit.
- Toucannon – Toucannon show up on many of the bends in the course.
- Tropius – Tropius can be found in the area between the first two sets of rapids as well as to the player's left as they approach the exit. Once at research level 3, there'll be an additional Tropius near the start of the course and a few more will fly overhead once players reach the area where the Feraligatr first pops out of the water.
- Swampert – Players will pass to the right of some sleeping Swampert just before dropping into the final area. At higher research levels, there'll be a few in the water at various spots; usually accompanied by a Quagsire.
- Arbok – At research level 2, Arbok will show up directly in front of players at the beginning of the course and once again to the player's right shortly after they drop down the first set of rapids.
- Wooper – Players will be able to see a Wooper meet-up with the Grookey and the Sobble near the start of the course. Another can be seen in the area between the first two sets of rapids.
- Quagsire – From research level 2 onwards, Quagsire can be found in a few different spots throughout the course, usually with a Swampert. At research level 3, players can turn around straight after dropping down the first set of rapids to get a nice four-star shot of Quagsire swimming down the fall.
- Gyarados – In the area between the first two sets of rapids, players will be able to scan an area behind a huge waterfall to their right. If they throw an Illumina Orb in and hit the nearby Crystabloom, a Gyarados will show up and knock them onto a short strip of land to their right. Gyarados will come down the final set of rapids behind the NEO-ONE shortly before players reach the end of the course.
- Ursaring – Ursaring starts showing up at research level 3 and can be found in two places. The first is in the area with the crying Psyduck, where it will chase the mischievous Aipom away. The second is in the same spot where Arbok washes up at research level 2, not far from the waterfall with the hidden Crystabloom. If players scan as they pass by to make a nearby Magikarp jump out of the water, Ursaring will fall in and will then show up in the area just before the final set of rapids.
- Venusaur – Venasaur can be found near the Tropius on the little strip of land onto which Gyarados knocks the NEO-ONE.
- Drilbur – A group of Drilbur will start to appear to the player's left shortly before traveling down the second set of rapids while playing at research level 3.
