The Roccat Torch is a new USB microphone that markets itself as having “studio-grade” performance for gamers, streamers, and content creators.
Whether you are streaming to YouTube, Twitch, or another platform, the Roccat Torch is an ideal budget-conscious microphone. It comes with some handy features like a built-in pop filter and 24-bit audio quality. Additionally, the Torch is compatible with shock mounts, boom arms, and other accessories.
So let’s dive deeper into this microphone for gamers.
Design
The first thing that you’ll notice out of the box is that the Torch has a stylish design. It also has active RGB lighting with AIMO. The colors change depending on the microphone mode, and they’ll light up the Roccat logo on the front of the microphone. It’s a nice touch.
As someone who has recorded podcasts in the past (now is as good a time as ever to plug Convo with Kyle), the design is not terribly important since I am never recording video. But if you do record video and want something stylish for the camera, this does a pretty good job of looking professional.
Features
As I previously mentioned, the Torch comes with a built-in pop filter. So you don’t need to worry about buying a pop filter, although they are pretty cheap anyway. If you’re interested, this is compatible with most boom arms.
The Torch has a dual condenser design offering 24-bit audio with up to 48kHz sampling, ensuring a wide range of voices can be captured and perfectly broadcast. It comes with three pre-selected pick-up patterns: Cardioid (for gaming and streaming), Stereo (vocals and instruments), and the Torch-exclusive Whisper pattern.
The Whisper setting is for when you need to be quiet at home but still be heard. So if you have a partner (or parents) who will get annoyed at your late-night recordings, this will help pick up your voice without waking anyone up. After all, no one wants a cranky, sleep-deprived loved one.
Price
The Roccat Torch retails for $99.99. So while it isn’t super cheap, it is a reasonable price, especially considering the quality of the product. You can find it exclusively at Roccat.com
