Star Wars: Visions Anime Anthology Gets New Trailer

Star Wars: Visions arrives on Disney+ on September 22, but in the meantime, Disney has graced us with a brand new trailer that shows off a sith lord with six lightsabers. It doesn’t get more anime than that.

For those unaware, Star Wars: Visions takes a page out of Animatrix by inviting several anime studios to provide their takes on the Star Wars universe. The miniseries will span nine episodes and show totally original stories–some set in between official Star Wars movies, and some that break with tradition and reimagine Star Wars if it originated from Japan.

Seven studios have signed on to the project, with Studio Trigger (BNA, Kill La Kill, Little Witch Academia) and Science SARU (Space Dandy, Japan Sinks: 2020, Devilman Crybaby) being the biggest names among them. Studio Colorido of Pokemon: Twilight Wings fame is also doing an episode, as is the prodigious Production IG.

The trailer is too short to give us a real idea of what to expect in terms of story, but there's definitely a lot of force powers being used to stop blasters, girls with lightsabers cutting open a speeder, and a bunny girl accepting induction into the Jedi order.
