The Ascent: Dealbreaker Location (& Best Build)

The Dealbreaker is unanimously considered among the best weapons in The Ascent. It has a huge magazine with a fast fire rate and great base damage. Against enemies with large health pools, the Dealbreaker shines above all other weapons. With upgrades, every enemy in the game will be melted by the excessively large minigun.

In order to get the exceptional weapon, players will need to travel to The Deep Stink. Follow the steps below to find and acquire the Dealbreaker in The Ascent. Additionally, players should reference the build at the end of this guide for an optimized Dealbreaker class setup.

Gamers will need to play through the main story to gain access to the Deep Stink. This location is hidden at the bottom of the city discovered midway through the campaign. Once players arrive in the area, they will need to clear out most of the enemies to find the loot box that contains the Dealbreaker. On the map, the chest is all the way on the bottom right of the Deep Stink. Fight to the top of the map and loop around to the right side.

After following the tunnel system back down the map, gamers will see the chest icons as they get closer. Use the icons on the map as a reference to find the chests and get the weapon. There will be hordes of level 25 creatures on the way there, so make sure to use upgraded weapons during the mission.

Dealbreaker Stats & Best Build

Though the Dealbreaker is a ballistic weapon, it does quite well against non-organic enemies. It is considered the best weapon in the game because it is so versatile. Energy/digital weapons will still kill robots faster, but they can be used once the Dealbreaker runs out of bullets. Base Dealbreakers inflict 27 damage per shot, with eight bullets firing every second. This adds up to an impressive 1,119 damage per second. With enough upgrades, the minigun will approach 2,000 DPS. Make sure to use components to upgrade the Dealbreaker, as just a few upgrades can make it a viable endgame weapon.

The main disadvantages of using the weapon as a primary are reload speed and movement speed. Like all miniguns in the game, the Dealbreaker has a slight fire buildup before it reaches max RPM. These minor downsides are not that big of a deal, as gamers can use a secondary when moving around. To make the gun even more unstoppable, use the following skills.

Best Skills For The Dealbreaker

Gamers that main the Dealbreaker will prefer a class geared toward gunplay. Improving reload speed and aiming will have a massive impact on the gun's performance:

  • Vital Signs: 10-20
  • Critical Hit Rate: 15+
  • Weapon Handling: 10+
  • Aiming: 10+

Vital Signs is the most important skill in the game, since it increases health. Weapon Handling is also a must, due to the slow reload of the Dealbreaker. Putting ten or more points in the handling category will shorten reload time substantially. Due to the large spread of the weapon, players will want at least ten skill points in Aiming as well. The skill will improve spread, especially at the end of a clip.

The only other crucial skill is Critical Hit Rate. With all of the rounds in a clip, players will want to increase the number of critical hits they get with the weapon. Dealbreakers already have an amazing damage profile, and Critical Hits will make the minigun unstoppable. Evasion can be used to lessen the movement penalty, but choosing a secondary with better movement is just as effective. High level characters can re-spec their skills once they pick up the weapon.

Armor

In The Ascent, armor provides more protection from the four different types of damage in game. Additionally, each piece of armor has attributes that boost skills. The preferred categories are Motorics and Cybernetics, but Biometrics is useful as well. With the skill points above, each piece of armor will receive a boost to Motorics, Cybernetics, and/or Biometrics.

When choosing armor, the key is to identify pieces that provide enough protection from damage and have useful attributes. The perfect armor set will depend on the type of enemies players are fighting, as well as skill allocation.
