Master Chief Fan Render For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Just before Tekken's Kazuya was announced as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's penultimate character, 343 Industries reiterated their desire to see Master Chief in Smash. That came courtesy of community director Brian Jarrard in a tweet that made it clear the likelihood of the Chief making it into Smash was pretty low.

"As a longtime fan of both games, it would be amazing to have a Chief/Smash announcement today," wrote Jarrard. "Nothing is happening that I'm aware of, but maybe momentum this week can open a door."

Fans really loved the idea of Master Chief in Smash Bros, and while Kazuya certainly made a splash (some might even say too much of a splash), Kazuya didn't seem to have the same kind of popularity as Master Chief, judging by all the retweets.

Fans made plenty of their own Smash Bros intro edits, but we have artist Mutation Korno to thank for this incredible render of what a Smashified Master Chief would likely look like.

Made these alts for chief, haven't made a timelapse on them so rip, the alt ideas were all from @DreadL0RD
and another alt that I'll dub "Doom chief" lol

Mutation Korno has sort of made a name for themself by creating Smash Bros. Ultimate fan renders. Here's one of Crash Bandicoot, and here's another one of a possible Kazuya alternate costume. And here's a sketch of Devil May Cry's Dante just because he also never got the attention he deserved from Smash Bros.

As for Master Chief, you can check out the time-lapse video of Korno's creative process to see how he swaps from different source materials to create all the fine detailing of Master Chief's armor. He also created a unique, dynamic pose for Master Chief to set him apart from the rest of the Smash roster, and even made a Doomguy alternate version by coloring armor pieces differently.

Sadly, with just one character left for Smash Bros. Ultimate, the odds of Master Chief getting the nod are vanishingly small. There's still Sora, Waluigi, Dante, and so many more characters out there that are at least equally deserving of being immortalized in Nintendo's brawler. But hey, we're still months away from an announcement, and that's plenty of time to convince Nintendo that Master Chief deserves the honor.

Thanks, GameRant!
