PS5 Shortage Is Now Over, According To Sony’s Jim Ryan

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has revealed that the PS5 shortage is now over, claiming that anyone who wants to purchase the console should be able to snap one up at retailers without much trouble.

The executive was speaking during Sony’s CES 2023 press event overnight, where he commented, “Everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward.”

Ryan previously revealed that PS5 sold 30 million units worldwide since the console’s launch in November 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S were plagued by shortage issues brought on by a lack of vital components brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. Major retailers were able to restock the console in the months following launch, but they quickly sold out and were not helped by the fact scalpers swooped in to snap up much of the stock.
